A person was killed in a car accident at Chainpur, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality–6 along the BP Highway today. The car, with registration number Ba 7 Cha 7554, was traveling from Biratnagar to Kathmandu when it went out of control and fell 42 feet down the roadside.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Prakash Subedi of the District Police Office, the car was being driven by 65-year-old Om Bahadur Arjel of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–17, Morang, and went out of control on its own, causing the accident.
Police rescued the injured and took them to Atmiya Community Hospital, Khalte for treatment. However, despite receiving medical attention, driver Om Bahadur Arjel died during treatment, DSP Subedi confirmed.
The condition of the deceased’s wife, 49-year-old Sunita Arjel, is reported to be critical. Their son, 31-year-old Nishant Arjel, received primary treatment at Atmiya Community Hospital and has been referred to Dhulikhel Hospital for further treatment.
