Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has announced a nationwide movement starting from Mangsir 7 (December 22), which he said will take place simultaneously from Mechi to Mahakali. Claiming that the campaign will be completely peaceful, he appealed to human rights activists, journalists, and Nepali citizens living in Nepal and abroad to support the movement.
He also requested civil servants and police personnel to stay on leave on that day. Additionally, Prasai advised Nepali citizens to store necessary supplies such as diesel, cooking gas, and daily essentials at home.
According to Prasai, “This movement will be conducted across all 14 zones, 75 districts, and 165 electoral constituencies from east to west.” He clarified that the movement is not aimed at violence, saying, “The purpose is not to carry guns or explosives, not to burn Singha Durbar, not to set houses on fire, or vandalize businesses.”
Speaking to the media after discussions with Tap Bahadur Magar, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, on Wednesday, Prasai confirmed that the movement will begin from Mangsir 7. He said, “Since there was confusion among the people due to delays in previous announcements, we found it necessary to make it public today.”
Prasai also highlighted the historical significance of Mangsir 7, saying, “On this day, the 12-point agreement was signed in Delhi between the political parties and the rebel Maoists. After that, the monarchy and the Hindu kingdom were abolished. Today, the country is under the influence of foreign powers and run by NGOs and INGOs.” He further added, “Our campaign aims to protect Pashupatinath and Mother Durga, bring back Nepali citizens who left their homes to work abroad, and bring systemic change across the country.”
He appealed to all Nepali citizens to be ready to participate in the movement.
