Set a target of 320 runs, England was bowled out for 194 runs in 42.3 overs.
For South Africa, Marizanne Kapp delivered a brilliant performance, taking five wickets — the highest in the match.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored with 64 runs, while Alice Capsey contributed 50 runs.
Earlier, England had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, South Africa posted a strong total of 319 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs.
In the second semifinal, India will face Australia on Thursday.
