Dang: CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has claimed that infiltrators took advantage of the Gen Z protests and attacked the judiciary and police administration.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Dang Chapter, in Ghorahi today, Pokharel said that the assault on the judiciary was a serious matter and called for an impartial investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He described the attack as a conspiracy to disrupt Nepal’s legal system, emphasizing that such incidents cannot be taken lightly.
“The demands raised during the Gen Z movement are legitimate,” he said. “However, self-serving elements infiltrated the movement and tried to distort its purpose. Understanding the aspirations of youth and ensuring good governance and rule of law require cooperation among all political forces.”
Pokharel further said the police and judiciary had no role in suppressing the protests, and that attempts were being made to weaken the judicial system to destabilize the nation.
He expressed concern that looting of police weapons and escape of prisoners during the protests had created a sense of insecurity among citizens.
“Public and private properties — including local government offices, courts, transportation offices, and revenue offices — were damaged,” Pokharel said. “The incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 must be investigated in a neutral and transparent manner.”
The event was chaired by Press Chautari Nepal, Dang Chapter President Shudhasuman Dhakal, and conducted by Secretary Nimusangam Gharti.
