During the ongoing Central Committee meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist), senior leader Jhalanath Khanal publicly demanded the resignation of party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Khanal’s demand comes in the context of Madhav Kumar Nepal’s recent efforts to initiate unity talks with the CPN (Maoist Centre). Speaking in the meeting, Khanal stated:
“You were suspended from Parliament when charges were filed against you. So why remain in your party position? You should set an example as a communist leader and step down from leadership.”
Khanal has previously expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed party unification and had issued statements opposing the merger, signaling his continued resistance to the move.
