CPN (Unified Socialist) Vice-Chairman Jagnnath Khatiwada has claimed that his party will soon unite with the CPN (Maoist Centre).
Speaking to journalists on Friday at the venue of the party’s Central Committee meeting, Khatiwada said that the CPN (Unified Socialist), CPN (Maoist Centre), and Samajwadi Party Nepal are working with full confidence toward unification.
He mentioned that although senior leader Jhalanath Khanal suggested not to go for unification, the meeting will ultimately decide in favor of it.
Khatiwada further stated that the Maoist Centre has agreed to abandon Maoism and accept Marxism–Leninism as its guiding ideology, which aligns with the Unified Socialist’s principles. He emphasized that the unification process began only after achieving ideological harmony among the parties.
Regarding CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s call for former members to “return to the old home,” Khatiwada accused him of trying to sabotage the unification process.
He said,
“The CPN (Unified Socialist), CPN (Maoist Centre), and Samajwadi Party Nepal are working together with full confidence for unification. The meeting is a place for opinions and suggestions, but the decision will be in favor of unity. The Maoist Centre will abandon Maoism and follow Marxism–Leninism as its guiding principle, as we do. We have already exchanged documents and settled many issues. KP Oli’s call is just a conspiracy to disrupt our unity — he has never been for unification.”
Khatiwada expressed strong confidence that the three parties will soon move forward decisively in the unification process.
