
Today, the Kathmandu District Court will hold a hearing in the case against opposition figures, including former ministers, accused of smuggling Nepalis to the United States by labeling them as fake refugees.
The hearing will take place before Judge Dhruvraj Karki’s bench.
The accused include former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, security advisor to then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa Indrajit Rai, Thapa’s son Pratik Thapa, then Home Secretary Tekraj Pandey, and 36 others.
Among them, Rayamajhi, Pandey, and some others remain in custody for further investigation, while Khand and several others are out on bail.
