In Konepokhari Rural Municipality-1, Jharnaghutu, a woman died after being beaten by her husband.
According to Ratnabahadur Karki, ward chairperson of Konepokhari-1, 45-year-old Babudhan Satar assaulted his 40-year-old wife, Durbi Satar, leading to her death. Preliminary police investigations revealed that Babudhan beat his wife around 8 PM on Sunday night.
Durbi, who was injured with a wound to her ear, was taken to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. As her condition worsened, her relatives brought her home on Monday.
While being brought home, Durbi passed away in the evening on Monday. A neighbor, 50-year-old Chhotelal Hasda, who tried to intervene and separate the couple’s quarrel, was also injured with a head wound. His condition is reported as stable, and he is receiving treatment at Koshi Hospital.
Babudhan, involved in the murder of his wife, has been taken into custody by the Pathari Police Station. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Tulsi Ram Aryal from Pathari Police Station is conducting further investigations. The couple had two daughters and one son.
