The Beni–Darbang road, connecting three western local levels of Myagdi with the district headquarters Beni Bazaar, has reopened after being blocked for three days.
The road was disrupted since Thursday due to a landslide at Faparkhet (Ghumaune), located on the boundary of Beni Municipality–4 and Mangala Rural Municipality–2, cutting off transport links for Mangala, Malika, and Dhaulagiri Rural Municipalities with the district headquarters.
According to Bishnu Paudel, head of the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, the road was cleared today, and transport services have resumed, allowing travel from Darbang to Beni, Pokhara, Kathmandu, and other major cities.
Landslides have been a recurring problem at this location since the road was first opened in 2061 BS (2004–05 AD). Although a bail bridge over the Myagdi River was proposed as an alternative, the project has not progressed. Due to the low long-term feasibility of preventing landslides, the Infrastructure Development Office has been clearing debris temporarily to maintain transport services.
