Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising, along with Mayor Balen Shah, is set to register a new political party. According to sources, Ghising will serve as the party president, and the registration process with the Election Commission is underway.
Sumana Shrestha and Sudhan Gurung, who left Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), will also join the new party. Ghising is being positioned as a prospective prime minister for the upcoming elections scheduled on Falgun 21.
The party will operate under a presidential system with a 151-member central committee. Mayor Balen Shah will not contest the parliamentary elections and will continue in his role as mayor.
Previously, Sumana Shrestha had declined an offer to become the chief advisor to Prime Minister Sushila Karki while promoting alternative political unity. The new party aims to serve as the political representation of Nepal’s Gen Z.
