The government has decided to declare 45 individuals who lost their lives during the Gen Z protests as martyrs.
According to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, the Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday made the decision to recognize those who died in Kathmandu and various parts of the country during the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24 as martyrs on behalf of the state.
Spokesperson Kharel added that the decision followed a detailed study conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and other concerned authorities. He further mentioned that additional investigations are still underway regarding other related cases.
The Cabinet also approved the Rules on the Commission for Investigation, Truth and Reconciliation, and Enforced Disappearances Fund 2082. In addition, it decided to deposit NPR 53 million into the Disaster Management Fund to provide assistance to local levels affected by the disaster in Ilam district, which has been declared a crisis-hit area.
Similarly, the meeting appointed Deputy Attorney General Ghanshyam Ojha as a member of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.
