The United States has won all four matches in the ongoing ICC World Cup League 2 series held in the UAE. In the final match of the series on Monday, the USA thrashed hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a massive 243 runs.
Chasing a challenging target of 293 runs, the UAE team was bowled out for just 49 runs in 21.1 overs. Apart from Junaid Siddique, who scored 10 runs, no other UAE batter managed to reach double figures. For the USA, Rusty Ugrahkar took five wickets, while Saurabh Netravalkar claimed three.
Earlier, opting to bat first, the USA posted a total of 292 runs for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Monank Patel scored a brilliant 137, and Milind Kumar remained unbeaten on 123 runs.
With this victory, the USA leads the League 2 table with 36 points from 24 matches. The UAE, with just 8 points from 19 matches, sits at the bottom. Nepal, having played 19 matches, is in seventh place with 12 points. Nepal will face the UAE in its final match of this series on Wednesday, November 5 (Kartik 19).
In the eight-team league, Scotland holds second place with 30 points from 24 matches, followed by the Netherlands (28 points), Oman (24 points from 20 matches), Canada (21 points), and Namibia (19 points).
Each team will play a total of nine tri-series — three at home and six away — making up 36 matches in total. The top four teams from League 2 will directly qualify for the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
