The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has decided to include youth under the age of 40 as representatives in its upcoming 11th National General Convention.
Around 2,100 representatives from across the country will take part in the convention, and those below 40 years of age will also participate as official representatives.
According to UML Central Organization Department Chief Kashinath Adhikari, four representatives will be selected from each parliamentary constituency — two under the open category, one woman, and one youth below 40 years of age.
As per the party’s criteria, four representatives will be chosen for every 1,200 party members in a constituency. This ensures representation of at least one youth under 40 years from each of the 165 constituencies. In addition, five representatives each from the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) and the Youth Association of Nepal will participate.
Adhikari also stated that representatives from other committees may compete for positions in the convention. The party has further ensured that one-third of the total representatives will be women.
The UML will hold its nationwide representative selection process on Mangsir 13 (November 28). The 11th National General Convention of UML is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from Mangsir 27 to 29 (December 12–14).
