The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold its extended central committee meeting in Chitwan starting Friday. The two-day meeting will take place at a convention hall in Sauraha.
According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, Acting President D.P. Aryal will present the political report, Vice President Swarnim Wagle will introduce the preliminary draft of the party’s election manifesto, and General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti will present the organizational proposal. The meeting will also finalize the party’s future strategy, Jha added.
The event will be attended by central committee members as well as representatives from the provincial, district, and constituency levels. A participation fee of Rs. 1,500 has been set for attendees.
However, before participating, all central members and department officials must have cleared their mandatory levy payments, according to Treasurer Lima Adhikari. The RSP has set an annual levy of Rs. 25,000 for central members and Rs. 15,000 for department members, which must be paid within two months of the start of each fiscal year, i.e., by the end of Asoj.
More than half of the central members have yet to pay their levies. The party currently has 62 central members. Among them, MP Tosima Karki and Ganesh Karki have formally informed the party that they are unable to pay due to financial constraints.
According to Treasurer Adhikari, party office-bearers and members at any level who submit a written request citing financial difficulties are exempted from the levy.
She further stated that since the levy is the party’s main source of income, the rule has been strictly enforced for this extended meeting, and levy payment is mandatory for all participants representing the party.
