At least 17 people were injured when a microbus met with an accident near Chorkate bend in Siranchowk Rural Municipality–4, Gorkha, on Saturday night around 8 PM.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar Shrestha of the Gorkha District Police Office, the microbus (Ba 4 Kha 6043), which was traveling from Bhachchek, Ajirkot to Chitwan, crashed into a roadside wall after its brakes failed, causing the vehicle to lose control.
Among the injured, some are in critical condition and have been referred to Bharatpur, Chitwan for further treatment, while others are receiving care at the Provincial Hospital in Gorkha, DSP Shrestha said.
Out of the 19 passengers on board, 17 sustained injuries. Police personnel from the Gorkha District Police Office reached the scene immediately after the incident and carried out rescue operations.
Police said that the microbus driver, Gobinda Bhandari of Khaireni–10, Katthar, Chitwan, has been taken into custody, and an investigation into the accident is underway.
