The bodies of two Indian nationals — 52-year-old Jignesh Kumar Lallubhai Patel and his 17-year-old daughter Priyansa Kumari Patel — who had been missing since Kartik 3 (October 19), were recovered by the Armed Police Force (APF) on Sunday afternoon around 2 PM in Manang district.
According to authorities, the father and daughter had left Gyalsen Hotel in Ngisyang Rural Municipality–4 on Kartik 3, saying they were heading to visit the Maleripa Monastery in Ward No. 5. They had gone out sightseeing but never returned.
After they went missing, the hotel management informed the APF Mountain Rescue Training School in Manang to initiate a search operation. When the initial search failed to locate them, another mountain rescue-trained APF team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hira Bahadur Jisi, was deployed on Kartik 23 (November 8) with rescue equipment.
The team eventually discovered the bodies about 100 meters above the monastery, buried under snow.
According to APF Deputy Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa, efforts are underway to retrieve and bring the bodies down from the site.
It has been confirmed that the deceased were father and daughter.
