Kulman Ghising, who currently holds three key ministerial positions in the government, is set to announce a new political party on Monday.
The registration of the new party will take place at the Election Commission in the afternoon. For this purpose, a request will be submitted to change the name of an already registered party called Ujyalo Nepal Party to Janasewa Party.
According to sources, Ghising himself will likely serve as the party’s chairperson. However, if he does not take the position, former Energy Secretary Dr. Anup Kumar Upadhyaya is expected to assume the role.
The new party is said to follow the principle of “one person, one position,” meaning that those holding government positions will not serve as party officials.
The party reportedly plans to propose Kulman Ghising as its candidate for Prime Minister. Therefore, it is likely that Ghising will not become the party’s president, as holding both roles simultaneously would not be permitted under the party’s policy.
Ghising’s close associates held a meeting in Boudha, Kathmandu, throughout Sunday to discuss the formation of the new party. Another meeting is scheduled for Monday morning, where key figures involved in the process will finalize the party’s structure and strategy.
The party is also expected to receive support from Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah. Although Balen himself will not hold any position within the party, his representatives are likely to be actively involved in it.
