Various countries around the world are observing World Pneumonia Day today with the aim of raising awareness about pneumonia, reducing child mortality, and emphasizing pneumonia prevention and the importance of a strong health system.
On the occasion of this day, observed at the call of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Government of Nepal has also emphasized preventive health services and the development of a robust health system.
With the theme “Save the Children – Strengthen Health Systems, Invest in Prevention and Treatment,” awareness programs are being organized today across various hospitals and health institutions in the country.
Pneumonia remains one of the leading causes of death among children.
The government has stressed the need to increase investment in primary health services, enhance the skills of health workers, and raise public awareness about the risks and prevention of the disease.
