Nepal made a winning start in the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket being held in India, defeating Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in their opening match on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 88 runs, Nepal reached the total in just 5.2 overs, losing only one wicket.
Opener Mankeshi Chaudhary played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 22 balls, becoming the first-ever player to score a half-century in Blind Women’s World Cup history. Fellow opener Binda Pun contributed 13 runs off 8 balls.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Sri Lanka scored 87 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mihirani Dulanjali top-scored for Sri Lanka with 23 runs.
For Nepal, Kanti Yogi delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking three wickets. Mankeshi Chaudhary was named the Player of the Match for her outstanding batting display.
Nepal will face host nation India in their second match on Friday. India also won their first game against Sri Lanka.
