Chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has clarified that the recent unification among leftist forces is not a tactical move but a long-term ideological unity aimed at saving the nation.
Speaking at the “Unity Coordination Assembly” held at the National Assembly Hall on Wednesday, Prachanda said the unity was formed out of the nation’s need and as a result of reflections inspired by the “Gen Z uprising.”
“This is not a tactical unity; it is a unity to save the nation,” he said. “The Gen Z rebellion shook Nepali society and forced us to self-reflect. If the Gen Z youth had not risen for good governance and leadership transformation, this unity might not have materialized so soon. I want to thank those youths for that.”
He emphasized that the alliance aims to ensure the longevity and stability of communist unity in Nepal.
“The unification has brought together 12 leftist groups, and more will join soon,” Prachanda said. “During a meeting with leaders at Perisdanda today, I jokingly said — at this rate, there might not be any other parties left in the country.”
He also remarked that the previous unification between the CPN-UML and the Maoist Centre collapsed due to KP Sharma Oli’s arrogance and ego.
