Sindhuli — Two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident that occurred on the Madan Bhandari Highway at Laxmipur, Dudhauli Municipality–4, Sindhuli, on Wednesday evening.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the accident took place when a truck (Province 1–02–002 Kha 411) heading towards Dudhauli from Bhiman collided with two motorcycles — Province 2–01–001 Pa 2142 and Me. Pra. 02–006 Pa 5841 (Pulsar) — coming from the opposite direction.
Among those injured, Ram Kumar Kumar (34) of Dudhauli Municipality–11, Tadi, and Phul Babu Dhami (25) of Dudhauli–3 died during treatment at Dudhauli Municipal Hospital, Sirthauli.
The injured have been identified as Biplav Dhami (26), Buddhi Tharu (27), Sunil Majhi (25), and Kushe Dhami (32), all from Dudhauli–3. According to SP Lal Dhoj Subedi, chief of the District Police Office, three of them are in critical condition and are unable to speak due to severe injuries.
One of the motorcycles (Me. Pra. 02–006 Pa 5841) caught fire and was completely destroyed. Police have taken truck driver Sher Bahadur Bisht (25) of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality–6, Dhankuta, into custody for investigation.
All four injured individuals have been sent to Dudhauli Municipal Hospital for treatment. Inspector Sapana Khadka of the Area Police Office, Daka, said that a further investigation into the incident is underway.
Police suspect that overspeeding may have been the cause of the accident.
