Ireland registered an impressive 2–0 victory over Portugal in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Troy Parrott scored both goals for the Republic of Ireland, finding the net in the 17th and 45th minutes of the first half.
Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a red card in the 61st minute and sent off the field. This marks the 12th red card of Ronaldo’s career.
With this win, Ireland’s World Cup hopes have strengthened. Group F leaders Portugal will now have to play their remaining matches without Ronaldo.
