The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee is meeting again today to seek consensus on the ongoing dispute over the party’s general convention.
The meeting is scheduled for 1 PM at Dhobighat, Lalitpur. The committee aims to resolve whether the party’s convention will be held before the elections scheduled for Falgun 21 or not, as no agreement has been reached so far.
Since the meeting began on Ashoj 28, party leaders have been divided over whether the convention should take place before the elections. Joint General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwprakash Sharma, who support holding a convention, argue that if the regular convention cannot be held by Poush, a special convention must be organized.
During Thursday’s committee meeting, General Secretary Thapa proposed holding a special convention on Mangsir 27, while Sharma emphasized that if the regular convention is not conducted, a special convention by Poush is a statutory requirement.
