Sahidbhoomi Rural Municipality has decided to grant local holidays on Kartik 28, 30, and Mangsir 1. The decision was made during the Executive Committee meeting held on Kartik 27.
The holiday on Kartik 28 is in honor of the martyrs of the Chhintang massacre of 2036 BS, while holidays on Kartik 30 and Mangsir 1 coincide with the main festival of the Khalsa region, Wadangmi.
A notice signed by Chief Administrative Officer Surya Bahadur Bhandari has been sent to all ward offices, educational institutions, health centers, banks, and organizations.
During the Chhintang massacre from Kartik 22 to 29 in 2036 BS, 16 locals were martyred, and the government declared them martyrs in 2074 BS. Their memory is honored every year with a Martyrs’ Week from Kartik 22 to 29.
Wadangmi is the main festival of the Rai community in the area. It begins at Sakenwathan in Ward No. 3 of Sahidbhoomi Rural Municipality on the first Tuesday after Kartik Shukla Purnima and lasts for a week. Chairman Manoj Rai stated that a local holiday is observed each year during this festival.
