Chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has urged all members to firmly continue the unification process and complete the remaining work without being misled by confusion over the list submitted to the Election Commission for party registration.
The Chairperson’s secretariat issued a statement today clarifying that some misunderstanding had arisen regarding the details submitted to the Election Commission for party registration.
The secretariat stated:
“Due to administrative requirements of the election and time constraints, the list of pre-unification standing committee members was submitted to the Commission. To comply with the legal requirement of including one-third women, 13 female central members who were immediately present at the central office and signed were added to the list to meet the required percentage. This is not a separate structure; the official structure according to the party statute is yet to be formed.”
Chairperson Dahal emphasized that all positions and committees, except those of the chairperson and co-chairperson, will be formed based on mutual agreement. Preparatory work is underway, and the central committee along with all other structures of the unified party will be finalized according to this process, the secretariat added.
The formation of the Nepali Communist Party is progressing with the merger of the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and more than a dozen other leftist groups.
