Croatia booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 by defeating the Faroe Islands 3–1 on Friday. Despite falling behind early in the match, Croatia staged an impressive comeback to secure a strong win.
In the match held in Rijeka, the Faroe Islands took the lead in the 16th minute through a goal from Geza David Turi. However, Croatia equalized in the 23rd minute when Josko Gvardiol found the back of the net.
Petar Musa put Croatia ahead in the 57th minute with a close-range finish — his first international goal since 2023. The victory was sealed in the 70th minute when Nikola Vlašić scored from an Ivan Perišić cross.
After the match, defender Gvardiol said, “We have achieved our objective with one match still remaining. Now, we head to Montenegro aiming to win the final game as well.”
With this victory, Croatia now leads Group L by 6 points ahead of second-placed Czech Republic.
