Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Nepal Chair Upendra Yadav has said that there is no alternative to holding elections in the country. He stressed that the government must create a conducive environment for the polls.
Speaking at the first convention of the party’s Lumbini Province Committee in Bhairahawa, Yadav expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation, saying, “It is the government’s responsibility to conduct elections. When the police administration itself feels insecure, the government must act to ensure public safety and create an election-friendly environment.”
The former Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that in a democracy, the people’s representatives must be in government and that representation should be guaranteed based on population. He also called for electoral reforms to prevent excessive spending by candidates and parties, and emphasized empowering provincial governments to strengthen federalism.
Similarly, party General Secretary Ram Kumar Sharma underscored the need to protect the rights gained by marginalized communities and move the country forward through constitutional amendments.
