The Election Commission of Nepal has announced the schedule for the House of Representatives Member Election 2082, which will be held on Falgun 21.
According to today’s decision of the Commission, the election programs for both the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system and the Proportional Representation (PR) system will be published on the Commission’s official website and in the Nepal Gazette.
As per the FPTP election schedule, candidate nominations will be registered at the office of the election officer on Magh 6 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The list of nominated candidates will be published the same day from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Objections against nominated candidates can be filed on Magh 7 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Verification and decisions on nominations and objections will be carried out from 3:00 PM on Magh 7 until Magh 8 at 5:00 PM. The final list of candidates will then be published from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Magh 8.
Candidates may withdraw their names on Magh 9 between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The final list of candidates will be published from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM the same day, and election symbols will be distributed from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Similarly, the PR election schedule will begin from 2082/08/20. Under this schedule, political parties wishing to participate must submit their applications from Mangsir 21 (10:00 AM) to Mangsir 23 (4:00 PM). The list of applied political parties will be published on Mangsir 24 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Parties must submit their closed lists of candidates on Poush 13 and 14 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The final closed list will be published on Magh 20 between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
According to the approved election program, voting will take place at respective polling centers on Falgun 21 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
