Former Secretary of Nepal Trust, Arjun Karki, has been arrested by police. According to SSP Shival Kumar Shrestha, spokesperson for the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Karki was taken into custody from the Hattiban area of Kathmandu.
He was arrested on charges of making faulty decisions while leasing Nepal Trust’s land in Durbarmarg to Thamserku Trekking. Earlier, on Kartik 21, CIB had also arrested former Under-Secretary Lekh Bahadur Karki from Chitwan for investigation in the same case.
According to CIB, evidence shows that more land was leased than what was mentioned in the official notice. Although only Kitta No. 4606 was supposed to be leased, the agreement included Kitta No. 4605 as well.
SSP Shrestha stated that the land was leased to Thamserku for a total of 30 years, including a 3-year construction period. CIB is continuing further investigation against both individuals involved in the land lease case.
