Outgoing Madhes Province Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonal has vacated the official residence. Early this morning, he was seen placing water in flowerpots before leaving the premises, symbolically clearing the residence.
Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav had issued an ultimatum to Sonal to vacate the residence, and Sonal complied within the given timeframe. Yadav had also requested leaders from various parties and the chief whip to help ensure that the residence was emptied.
Yadav had repeatedly urged for the residence to be vacated ever since he assumed office. However, the seven-party alliance had taken the stance that the residence should not be emptied until the Supreme Court finalized the case related to the chief ministership.
