Karnali Yaks secured a dominant 9-wicket victory over Lumbini Lions in Saturday’s Nepal Premier League (NPL) match held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Lumbini had set a target of 157 runs, but Karnali chased it down in just 12.2 overs, losing only one wicket—thanks to a stunning century by Scottish all-rounder Mark Watt.
Mark Watt’s Explosive Century
Watt delivered one of the most destructive innings of the tournament, scoring an unbeaten 114 runs off 44 balls.
His innings featured 12 sixes and 6 fours, reaching his century in just 41 balls.
He was well supported by William Bosisto, who contributed an unbeaten 29 off 20 balls. Despite losing opener Priyank Panchal (12), the Watt–Bosisto partnership comfortably guided Karnali to victory.
Lumbini’s bowlers struggled throughout the match, with Sher Malla taking the only wicket.
Lumbini Lions’ Innings
After winning the toss, Karnali chose to bowl first. Lumbini Lions posted 156/8 in 20 overs.
Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with a steady 49 off 43 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes).
Late-order fireworks from:
- Ruben Trumpelmann – 29 off 14
- JJ Smit – 23 off 14
helped Lumbini reach a respectable total.
Apart from Darcy Short’s 19, no other batter reached double figures.
Karnali Bowling Performance
Karnali’s bowlers maintained consistent pressure:
- Nandan Yadav: 2 wickets for 38 runs (4 overs)
- Mark Watt: 1 wicket for just 16 runs (3 overs)
- Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Bipin Sharma, Yuvraj Khatri: 1 wicket each
With his outstanding all-round performance, Mark Watt was awarded the Player of the Match.
