CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has stated that the current government must face a constitutional test in the Supreme Court, insisting that it cannot be deemed constitutional under any circumstances.
Speaking at a mass gathering organized by UML in Kathmandu on Saturday, Oli argued that the present government was formed through violence, unrest, arson, vandalism, and looting, and therefore lacks constitutional legitimacy. He accused the government of being created against democratic norms and processes.
Oli said:
“The country currently has a government that is not formed according to the Constitution. It is a government created by violating constitutional provisions and rejecting democratic procedures. The Nepali people know that this government is a product of violence, chaos, arson, vandalism, and looting. Such a government must undergo constitutional examination by the respected court. The Constitution provides no grounds to validate this government, and the court cannot declare it constitutional.”
He further asserted that UML will lead the effort to resolve what he called the national political crisis:
“We want the national problems to be solved in the right way, and they will be. UML will lead this work. I have said before, and I repeat, UML will take leadership in resolving this crisis.”
Oli reiterated that the party will spearhead the movement to restore constitutional and democratic order in the country.
