Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has announced that the party will participate in the election declared by the interim government for Falgun 21, 2082.
He stated that, following the Gen-Z movement and subsequent political developments, an election is the only appropriate and democratic way out. Dr. Mahat added that the issues related to the formation of the interim government and the dissolution of the House of Representatives are not just political but constitutional matters, and the Supreme Court will provide the final interpretation.
With the election date already announced, Dr. Mahat said the Nepali Congress has decided to contest the polls, believing that elections will safeguard the Constitution and give institutional shape to the demands raised during the Gen-Z protests.
The Nepali Congress has also urged the government to ensure a fair and conducive environment for the upcoming election.
