Durga Prasai–led Rastra, Rashtriyata, Dharma, Sanskriti ra Nagarik Bachau Mahaabhiyan has withdrawn its planned protest programs, including Nepal Banda and indefinite strikes, which were scheduled to begin today.
The decision came after talks between government representatives and members of the Prasai-led campaign at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
A written agreement was signed by Ajayabhadra Khanal, the Prime Minister’s chief advisor, and Premdeep Limbu, secretary of the Mahaabhiyan.
According to the statement, the two sides held detailed discussions on the 27-point demand raised by the campaign. The government has agreed to continue dialogue, negotiation, and facilitation to address the legitimate issues raised, considering the current peace and security situation in the country.
Following the agreement, the Mahaabhiyan has decided to withdraw the Nepal Banda and indefinite general strike, converting them into peaceful programs instead. Both sides also agreed to conduct the next round of talks soon, involving the campaign’s top leadership.
Durga Prasai, the leader of the campaign, is currently in police custody.
