A hearing date has been set for the contempt case filed against Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The Supreme Court, in a bench comprising Justices Hariprasad Phuyal and Abdul Aziz Musalman, scheduled the hearing.
The petition was filed by lawyers Pratibha Upreti and Prem Silwal, who alleged that the government failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s interim order regarding the recall of ambassadors.
The government had decided on Ashoj 30 to recall ambassadors from 11 countries appointed by the previous administration.
However, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order on Kartik 16 instructing that the decision not be implemented immediately. Following this, all ambassadors have reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The detailed hearing of the case will proceed as per the scheduled date.
