A corruption case has been filed against Ram Bikram Rana, chairman of the Management Committee of National Secondary School in Pokhara, along with seven others, and Anjuli Boarding School Pvt. Ltd.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the case at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Sunday, accusing them of causing loss to public property and committing corruption.
Others named in the case include Ward Chairman and ex-officio member Sahara Pradhan of Pokhara Metropolitan City–1, and members of the school management committee Barun Bikram Rana, Sovanath Bhattarai, Bishnumaya Lamichhane, and Narayan Prasad Chapagain.
The case was also filed against Anjuli Boarding School Pvt. Ltd., its operator Raju KC, and principal Sunita Kunwar KC.
The CIAA launched the investigation following complaints that the community-run National Secondary School building had been illegally rented out to a private boarding school, resulting in corruption.
The investigation revealed that they had embezzled NPR 1,529,408. The filed case seeks recovery of the same amount.
