Six top leaders of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), including Federal Council Chair Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, have resigned from the party. They announced on Sunday that they were leaving JSP to work toward unity and consolidation within the Nepali Communist Party.
The leaders who resigned are:
- Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, Federal Council Chair
- Ranadhwaj Limbu (Kandangwa), Vice Chair
- Parshuram Basnet
- Durgamani Dewan, Chair of the Central Advisory Committee
- Pushparaj Rajkarnikar, Chair of the Central Experts Council
- Krishna Bahadur Dhaju, Chair of the Central Discipline Commission
They stated that a formal unification announcement with the Nepali Communist Party is scheduled for Mangsir 10.
Meanwhile, the Ashok Rai faction of JSP has also reached an agreement on Sunday with Rastriya Mukti Chair Rajendra Mahato and NUPA Nepal Chair Reshamlal Chaudhary to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives election with a common election symbol. The three leaders signed the agreement, stating that NUPA Nepal will take the lead in the election scheduled for Falgun 21.
