The sight of Singha Durbar engulfed in flames on the second day of the Gen-Z movement, September 9 (24 Bhadra), had deeply saddened the people. Still mourning the youths killed on the first day of protest (23 Bhadra), the nation was further shocked by the widespread arson and destruction that followed. Numerous ministries and important physical infrastructures inside Singha Durbar were set ablaze.
Not only government vehicles parked in the premises, but furniture and equipment inside the buildings were also torched. Due to the arson and vandalism, several ministries became unfit to operate.
However, the situation has now changed. Ministries blackened by fire have been repainted, and many have been restored to their previous condition.
When cameras entered Singha Durbar on November 23, 2025 (8 Mangsir 2082), the post-protest landscape looked significantly transformed. Government buildings appeared freshly renovated with new paintwork. It felt as though not only the rulers inside Singha Durbar had changed, but the buildings themselves had taken on a new appearance.
