To draw global attention to the urgent need for protecting melting mountains and glaciers caused by climate change, the Pokhara Avengers will take the field today against Janakpur Bolts wearing special green jerseys.
Along with the match, the club aims to promote Nepal’s tourism and spread awareness about climate change mitigation through this unique campaign.
Last year as well, the Avengers played the first NPL season wearing ad-free jerseys carrying the messages “Pure as Paradise” and “Glacier Matter” to showcase Nepal’s natural beauty and advocate for environmental balance.
Pokhara Avengers Chairman Subodh Tripathi said, “At this important moment when global attention is on Nepali cricket, this is not only about performance. It is an opportunity to present our voice and our potential to the world. That is why we are leading this campaign.”
According to Tripathi, international players participating in the NPL can be taken to their respective franchise regions each year to help spread awareness about local tourism potential globally.
Following this strategy, the Avengers have already submitted to CAN a proposal for an event titled “Glacier Matter – A Global Call from Pokhara” aimed at raising worldwide awareness about climate-related challenges in Pokhara.
After today’s match, the green jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned, and the proceeds will be used for glacier conservation and climate-change mitigation initiatives.
