Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that leftist forces must unite to protect the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and people’s authority.
Addressing a party unity message gathering held in Dhangadhi on Friday, he urged leaders of the CPN-UML to come together in the journey toward socialism for the protection of the nation and the Nepali people.
Dahal said he has supported the Gen-Z movement of August 23 and 24 from the beginning, stating that leftist unity was initiated to address the legitimate demands of the movement.
He dismissed claims that the unity was formed merely to win elections, calling such comments baseless. He said the campaign aims to bring together communist and non-communist parties to bring reforms in agriculture, education, and health.
He also criticized UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, saying Oli is “walking on the wrong path.” Dahal added that when he dissolved the parliament, Oli supported it, but now Oli is demanding the reinstatement of parliament, which Dahal called an illogical stance.
