The Nepali Communist Party, formed through the unity of 15 parties, has announced that it will hold a Gandaki Province-level Unity Message Assembly on Sunday, December 14. The party shared this information during a press conference held in Pokhara on Friday.
According to Krishna Bahadur Nepali, leader of the Nepali Communist Party and former Gandaki Province Chair of the CPN (Unified Socialist), the assembly will begin at 11:30 AM at Chipledhunga, Pokhara. The event will be addressed by the party’s Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Co-Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, leader Bhim Rawal, among others. The party claims that more than 20,000 participants will attend the gathering.
Speaking at the press conference, Dinanath Sharma, party leader and former Gandaki Province In-charge of the CPN (Maoist Centre), said preparations are in the final stage and participants will be brought from all 11 districts of Gandaki Province.
“We have unified parties that had experienced splits,” he said. “We are preparing to mobilize all party members and well-wishers. Most participants will come especially from various municipalities of Kaski and Pokhara.”
He added that the unity assembly aims to lay the foundation for a socialist revolution. “We have worked with transparency,” he said. “We sounded the bugle against the Panchayat regime and brought it down. In 1995, we declared that we would establish a republic, and we did. Now we have declared a socialist revolution, and we are centralizing the decentralized parties to accomplish it.”
Addressing talks on leadership transition, he said such changes happen when the right time comes. “Leadership transition does not happen instantly,” he said. “If dynamic Gen-Z leaders like Prachanda and Madhav Nepal emerge, we are ready for it. Prachanda and Madhavji will step aside when the time comes, and so will we.”
Shreenath Baral, party leader and former Gandaki In-charge of the CPN (Unified Socialist), said various committees have been formed for the event’s preparation, including promotion, stage setup, guest reception, and vehicle management. He also stated that Gandaki Province will play a crucial role in achieving the socialist revolution.
Claiming that the Nepali Communist Party is currently leading the mainstream political transformation of the country, he said the party is essential to meeting Gen-Z’s demands for a corruption-free nation and good governance. He described the unity assembly as part of the party’s election preparations.
Party leaders Bishwanath Sharma, Atindrakeshari Nyaupane, Navaraj Subedi, and others also asserted that only the Nepali Communist Party can accomplish the socialist revolution. They urged supporters to ensure the success of the Gandaki Province unity assembly scheduled for December 14 in Pokhara.
The Nepali Communist Party has already begun its series of province-level unity assemblies from Sudurpaschim Province, starting Friday in Dhangadhi. The party has scheduled assemblies in all provinces as follows:
