Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has inspected the under-construction buildings of Koshi Hospital.
Under the Ministry of Urban Development, the Federal Urban Development and Building Construction Office, Morang is currently constructing two buildings with a combined capacity of 759 beds.
During his on-site inspection, Minister Ghising held discussions with the project management team, hospital administration, and the construction contractors. He expressed concern that the physical progress of the project—directly linked to public health—had not met expectations. He instructed the concerned authorities to increase manpower, operate work in three shifts, and give special attention to construction quality.
Minister Ghising also warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found negligent, emphasizing that regular monitoring of the project would continue. The hospital administration informed the minister that delays in building construction had made it difficult to provide essential health services, urging faster progress.
The 500-bed medical building of Koshi Hospital has achieved 35% physical progress. The construction contract was signed in Poush 2079 at a cost of Rs. 2.46 billion, with a completion deadline of 36 months, which is set to expire on 12 Poush. So far, the contractor has been paid Rs. 749.8 million.
Similarly, for the 259-bed ICU, surgical, and neuro services building, a contract was signed in Ashad 2078 with Raman–Bhumi–BIPL JV. The building has achieved 50% physical progress. The deadline—extended once—expired in Kartik, and the contractor has now applied for another extension. The contract amount is Rs. 388.7 million, and Rs. 163.1 million has been paid to the contractor so far.
