Only 90 days remain until the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21. As the election date approaches, the Election Commission (EC) has intensified its preparations, and political parties have also begun ramping up their internal activities.
According to the EC, the schedule for the proportional representation (PR) system will begin this Saturday. Under this schedule, political parties can submit their applications for participation in the PR system on Mangsir 21 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The list of parties that applied for the PR system will be published on Mangsir 24.
The parties that submit applications will then be required to submit their closed list of PR candidates on Poush 13 and 14 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The final closed list for PR candidates will be published on Magh 30, according to EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
For the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, the nomination of candidates will take place on Magh 6, with the publication of the candidate list on the same day. Objections against nominations can be filed on Magh 7.
The official list of candidates will be published on Magh 8. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their names on Magh 9. The same day, the final list of candidates will be published, and election symbols will be distributed.
