A major drug bust took place in Sarlahi after police seized a large amount of cannabis being transported in an ambulance. Police intercepted the vehicle early this morning at Hiralal Toll, Ghurkauli in Harion Municipality–5, where the ambulance was preparing to move with the illegal load.
According to the District Police Office, the ambulance — registration number J1C 1558 and registered under the name of Nepal Red Cross Society, Ramanagar Bahuarba — was stopped based on a tip-off by a team from the Harion Area Police Office. Police recovered 51 kilograms of cannabis from the vehicle.
The ambulance driver, Surendra Rai Yadav, 37, a resident of Yamunamai Rural Municipality–4, Rautahat, has been arrested, police said.
In a separate incident within the same district, police also arrested Gangabahadur Waiba, 25, of Narayan Khola, Lalbandi-14, from Hirapur, Lalbandi-11, with 52 kilograms of cannabis in his possession.
