Former Nepal Army Lieutenant General Baburam Shrestha has announced that he will contest as an independent candidate from Gorkha-2 in the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21. A permanent resident of Jaubari, Siranchok Rural Municipality-8, Shrestha made the announcement through his social media accounts.
He stated, “Embracing the energy of the Gen Z movement and the sacrifices of the martyrs, I pledge to dedicate the rest of my life to the prosperity of Gorkha with new ideas and a clear development roadmap.” Shrestha also said he would complete all necessary legal procedures step by step and requested public support.
Shrestha, who served in the Nepal Army for a long time after beginning his career in civil engineering, said, “I will now utilize my engineering knowledge and military discipline in the service of my birthplace.” Announcing his independent candidacy, he added that he aims for economic and social transformation in Gorkha Constituency No. 2.
