Prime Minister Sushila Karqi has stated that the government will not back down in taking strict measures against corruption.
Addressing a program at Singha Durbar today on the occasion of the 22nd International Anti-Corruption Day, Prime Minister Karqi emphasized that the government is committed to tackling corruption decisively.
She highlighted that this government is not merely an electoral administration but one formed on the foundation of the anti-corruption “Janajati and Good Governance” (JENJI) movement, reflecting the demand for good governance.
Prime Minister Karqi acknowledged that some elements have tried to intimidate the government, directly or indirectly, in response to anti-corruption measures, but asserted that the government will not be deterred.
“The government is working swiftly toward good governance alongside its regular functions. Achieving the expected outcomes in line with the demands of JENJI may take time, but the government will not hesitate to take strict action against corruption at any level. Established state mechanisms are already operational, and I urge officials and civil servants to confidently exercise their professional independence in implementing these measures,” she said.
She further stressed that any delay in public service, shirking of responsibilities, favoritism, unjust gain, or actions causing harm to the state will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
