The Pokhara High Court has begun hearing petitions related to the bail set for Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairperson and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane by the Kaski District Court.
Lamichhane, who was released on bail of NPR 6.5 million in a case involving cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering, has filed a petition arguing that the bail amount is excessively high. The government, on the other hand, has appealed against the district court’s order, demanding that Lamichhane be kept in custody.
The High Court has decided to hear both petitions together. However, the hearing could not be completed on Thursday, and the next session has been scheduled for next Thursday.
According to Nilprasad Paneru, Deputy Registrar and Information Officer of the High Court, the bench of Chief Judge Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand and Judge Dipendra Adhikari could not conclude the hearing due to time constraints.
In connection with the Surya Darshan Cooperative case, seven others — including former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Aarti Gurung, Meena Gurung, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and Leela Pachhai — had been released on bail earlier.
