President Ramchandra Paudel has urged all concerned to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 is conducted in a human rights–friendly manner, thereby strengthening the democratic system.
He stated, “Following the youth-led movement, both the Nepali people and the international community are observing Nepal’s evolving political situation with special attention. To normalize the current situation, the government, political parties, civil society, youth activists, and citizens must play a coordinated and positive role.”
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of the 77th International Human Rights Day, President Paudel emphasized that as the world focuses on building a just and equitable society, Nepal must take further initiative to fully implement the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
The message reads, “Human rights are the foundation for living a dignified life. Therefore, Human Rights Day is observed globally with high importance. As human rights are inherent rights, Nepal’s Constitution, guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, has contributed significantly to strengthening freedom, equality, and justice.”
As Nepal is a party to several international human rights treaties, President Paudel reaffirmed the country’s commitment to respecting, protecting, and promoting human rights. He further noted that coordinated efforts from federal, provincial, and local governments—along with social organizations, media, and the private sector—can ensure justice, freedom, and rights for vulnerable and at-risk groups, making Human Rights Day even more meaningful.
He highlighted that economic, social, and cultural rights are essential components of human rights, ensuring personal freedom and strengthening democratic governance.
