The Nagdunga–Malekhu road section, which has been operating under partial closure for five hours daily due to ongoing upgrading works, has been opened today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday). The decision was made considering the inauguration session of the CPN (UML)’s 11th Central General Convention, ensuring that vehicle movement is not halted during the event.
The Nagdunga–Muglin Road Project had imposed partial closures from Mangsir 24 to carry out construction work. However, the project has announced that the road will not be closed for these two days. After that, closures will resume as per the previously announced schedule, according to Keshav Prasad Ojha, Chief of the Eastern Section of the Nagdunga–Muglin Road Project.
“We had been closing the road for five hours daily—from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM—from Mangsir 24 to Poush 1 to expedite the upgrading work in coordination with the district administration offices of Dhading and Kathmandu. But considering the UML General Convention, expected vehicle pressure, and possible traffic jams, we decided not to impose road closures for these two days,” Ojha said.
A delegation from the Youth Association of Nepal had met Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising on Wednesday, requesting that the road remain fully open for the convention.
The Department of Roads has prioritized blacktopping the Nagdunga–Piplamod section inside Kathmandu district, while the widening of the road at Bangebhir along the Naubise–Malekhu section in Dhading district has been given high importance.
