The Election Commission is set to publish the final list of political parties that have applied to participate under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system on Friday.
The Commission has also announced that it will distribute election symbols to the parties on the same day. According to the Office of the Election Officer for the PR system, Thursday was the deadline for political parties to withdraw their applications, but no party submitted a withdrawal request.
A total of 93 political parties have filed applications to participate under the proportional representation system. After examining the applications, the Commission will publish the final list of parties eligible to contest the election. Once the list is published, parties will be given two weeks to submit their closed lists of PR candidates.
Accordingly, political parties must submit their closed lists by Poush 13. As per the election schedule announced by the Commission, the program for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system will begin from Magh 6.
